DEVMEETING ON SUNDAY, 18 MAY. LOCATION: SOPOTSKO! TIME: to be announced! PLAN: This is a pre-birthday party meeting that will include nice food, beer, and some important discussions for the future of devMacedonia! It will be fun but it will be about business, as well What does business mean? Admins, dA subscription for the club, a couple of tricky ideas, and discussion of the most creative birthday parrrty ever! So, everybody, young or old is welcome... !

We still have pics from the challenge to display. Just be patient, it will happen before Sunday is out. The same goes for the 10th devMacedonia featured artist.

Now for some SERIOUS TALK. There have been several complaints from devMacedonia members about Greek harassment and very anti-Macedonian deviations displayed around dA (and we've seen a few examples on our pages). Early on, we attempted to separate dA from politics and given that we kept it cool this long, we did well. But the line has to be drawn somewhere. It's no longer about a name dispute between the politicians of both countries; the Greek treatment of Macedonians as lower human beings can be felt in any kind of communication with Greek traders, banks, customs (shit, the whole thing with marking Macedonian cars in Greece reminds me of Jews being marked in Nazi Germany), and now on deviantArt.

I've had problems with Greek and Bulgarian propaganda while working on the Macedonian Wikipedia early on, but I have never seen anything like this. It's not even about history anymore. It's not about debating the "falsification of Macedonian nationality" or what came before 1912. No. It's pure hatred, gloating over citizens of a country that is clearly weaker politically/economically. I am not saying that all Greeks behave in this manner, nor am I saying that the majority act this way, but there are enough cases for this to be concern in the following weeks and months. I do not come to deviantArt to waste my time on politics (I have enough of it during the day) and I certainly do not come here to be humiliated by anybody. So...

After this post, I will not spend a single second thinking about this issue. This is my declaration as administrator of devMacedonia, and I think it covers everything that needs to be said. I could describe Macedonian history in detail, but this is not the place for that, so I won't (by the way, I've read the award-winning "Falsification of Macedonian History" book, which is very poorly written and seems to be important only because the Greek politicians of its day - published in 1983 - used it as the cornerstone of their modern anti-Macedonian campaign; before that book, things had been fairly quiet since the civil war aftermath). devMacedonia will not review any cases of Greek fanatics posting shit pictures against Macedonia, nor will it answer to any provocations; there is a hide button for this purpose, discussion closed.

And I suggest that those of you who are concerned with the issue do the same. State what you want to state in your journal for your visitors to see and leave it at that. You can discuss history and politics if you want to, you can argue intelligently or badly, be smart or stupid (whatever smart and stupid are), but nobody can stop you from writing what you think/feel, it's your journal, your home court. There's no point in giving attention and creating views for people who do not deserve it. If they notice you and start making noise on your page, click hide, be sarcastic,debate, whatever. Most importantly, say what you wanna say where most people who know you will be able to read your words, close the issue, and do not leave anybody distract you from your art anymore. Just a suggestion. That's it from me.
